Weight/Age Requirements

In order to play football, there are 2 sets of requirements. A child must fit into an age/weight category and all players must maintain a good grade average in school.

WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS:
Each player will be placed on a team according to The Pop Warner age and weight requirements. Previous team placement is not considered when placing players. All players will weigh-in during registration and could be weighed-in again at equipment pickup. Weigh-in will occur before every game and any player that does not meet the weight requirements, will not be allowed to play that week. Any player, who is at the maximum weight amount allowed for that squad, is allowed to gain 1 pound per week during the playing season. If a player exceeds that amount for that week, they will not be able to play. For game day weigh-in; an additional weight allowance is given for equipment. The Hockomock and or Pop Warner Little Scholars program determines the mandatory play rule and weight requirements and these may be subject to change.

Football players will be placed according to Pop Warner weights and ages, as noted below. The asterisk (*) provisions in each division allow the so-called “older but lighter” player to also qualify. The last year of eligibility falls under more stringent weight restrictions, per above. A child’s age on July 31 is his/her age for the season. Children will have most success playing in lowest division possible.

*(E) MITEY-MITE – Ages; 7-8 – Weight; 45-100 lbs
Age: 9* (older/lighter) 45-75 lbs

* (D) JUNIOR PEEWEE – Ages; 8-9-10 – Weights; 60-115 lbs
Age; 11*(older/lighter) 60-79 lbs

* (C) PEEWEE – Ages; 9-10-11 – Weights; 75-130 lbs
Age; 12*(older/lighter) 75-94 lbs

* (B) JUNIOR MIDGET – Ages; 10-11-12 – Weights; 90-155 lbs
Age 13*(older/lighter) 90-109 lbs

*UNLIMITED – Ages: 11-12-13 – Weights 105+ lbs
Age 14* (older) 105-170 lbs
